House Republicans' Response to Governor's Call for a Special Session
(Denver, CO – August 15, 2024) – As the Special Session convenes on August 26, House Minority Leader Pugliese and House Assistant Minority Leader Winter stated that the House Republicans' sole priority is delivering real bipartisan solutions aimed at bringing much-needed relief to homeowners, small businesses, and communities across the state.
“This Special Session is an opportunity to address the property tax burden that has been challenging Colorado families," said Minority Leader Pugliese. "Our goal is to provide effective solutions for property tax relief while ensuring that local governments can balance their budgets and continue providing essential services. It’s crucial that we work together to get this right."
"We should not be in this position," added Assistant Minority Leader Winter. "The Majority party has had multiple opportunities to work with us on a solution. Instead, their delays and dysfunction have led to a rushed process that could have been avoided with proper planning and bipartisan cooperation. Last Special Session devolved into theatrics; let's hope that does not happen again."
House Republicans are determined to make the most of this Special Session and ensure that we finally deliver the property tax relief that Coloradans desperately need.
