Reviving Community Spirit: Wine Walks Bill Paves the Way for Local Events in Parker
(Denver, CO - June 10, 2024) - Representative Anthony Hartsook celebrated the passage of HB24-1156. This new law provides the local chambers of commerce the ability to secure a special events liquor license that covers all chamber members under the umbrella policy. This eliminates the need for extra licensing and ensures that small business owners avoid the expense of participating in the event. This legislation will revive community events that have been impacted by previous statutory limitations.
"The suspension of the Parker Wine Walks left a significant void in our community," said Rep. Hartsook. "Local businesses suffered tremendously without the foot traffic and sales generated by these events. This bill provides a solution that will bring back these cherished gatherings and support our local economy."
Under current law, special event permits allow for the service of alcoholic beverages during specific events. HB24-1156 expands this authorization to chambers of commerce and their members, with certain exclusions for specific business types. Retail establishments holding these permits must also provide snacks and sandwiches during events.
The sudden halt of the Parker Wine Walks had a ripple effect throughout the community, highlighting the need for this legislative change. "I’ve spoken with numerous business owners who have faced financial struggles due to the suspension," Hartsook stated. "This bill will restore these events and bring back the vibrancy along with economic benefits."
"This bill is about community and economic growth," Hartsook emphasized. "By allowing Chambers of Commerce to obtain these permits, we're ensuring that local events can thrive once again."
"Our small businesses are the engine of America and the backbone of our community," Hartsook continued. "With the passage of this bill, we are empowering them to succeed and bringing back the events that make our community special."
