Democrats Block HB25-1144, Keeping Costly Retail Delivery Fee in Place
(Denver, CO – February 18, 2025) – In a party-line vote, Democrats voted to kill HB25-1144, a bill that would have repealed Colorado’s costly retail delivery fee. The fee, which has been a burden for families and small businesses alike, continues to drive up costs at a time when Coloradans are already facing rising expenses in nearly every aspect of their daily lives.
"By voting to keep this delivery fee in place, Democrats are adding to the financial strain that Colorado families and small businesses are already struggling with," said Representative Dan Woog. "This fee is just another example of the hidden costs that make it more difficult for hardworking Coloradans to succeed. Instead of relieving the pressure on our citizens, this vote will only continue to hurt the very people that need help the most."
HB25-1144 would have removed the retail delivery fee, offering a much-needed reprieve to those who are already grappling with the rising costs of goods and services. As everyday expenses continue to climb, eliminating this fee would have provided tangible relief and allowed families and businesses to better manage their budgets.
"Now more than ever, Coloradans need relief from the hidden fees and rising costs that continue to nickel and dime them, taking a toll on their financial well-being," Woog continued. "This was a common-sense bill that could have provided immediate relief, but unfortunately, the majority party chose to protect an unnecessary fee instead of putting Colorado’s families first."
